We're a couple from New Zealand who enjoy housesitting so much we took our kids, then aged 7 and 10, on an 18-month trip to Hawaii, the UK, Portugal, France, Switzerland and Canada, housesitting most of the way.

Now our kids are grown up and we're on our own but we're not scared. We love housesitting just as much and want to continue our journey.

Our Background
Leanne is a Kiwi, born and bred, and grew up on a deer farm. She's been a community midwife since 2015 and loves it. Prior to that she worked as a ward nurse and then in the Emergency Department.

Derek is from Edinburgh, Scotland and worked as a geologist for 25 years, both in the UK and NZ. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1995 and met Leanne on his second day in the country!
​
The rest is history, as they say. After a short spell in Auckland we moved to the Waikato region of the North Island and settled in Hamilton, where we've lived for 30 years.
We have two kids, one of each, both in their late teens. Our son recently joined the NZ Army and our daughter is working in the UK.
​
We love travelling and discovered housesitting back in 2014 when we embarked on an 18-month overseas family adventure.
Homeschooling our kids, with particular emphasis on big-day-out local history lessons, we found staying in a real home, with pets to care for and play with, great for the kids....and ourselves. And there were the financial benefits of free accommodation, too.

We've also hosted many house-sitters over the years in our own home and made some really good friends along the way.
